Summary of the Book

Byomkesh Bakshi is considered to be one of the most popular and enduring creations in Bengali literature. The adventures of Byomkesh Bakshi are largely based on such greats as Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and Chesterton’s Father Brown. Bakshi’s appeal as the self-styled investigator, a detective not by profession but by passion, found him a huge and dedicated fan following among generations of readers. This collection of stories, all set in Calcutta of 50’s and 60’s, brings forth four nail-biting mysteries featuring the ace detective – The Menagerie, The Jewel Case, The Will That Vanished, and The Quills of the Porcupine.
